The power of matter

Each material has its own characteristics and therefore its own tactility. Tactility is a term used to describe the feel of a material and the sensation the person gets when touching it.

In this time, we spend most of our time behind a screen. Touching nothing more than the smooth screen or the keyboard from our computer. In the future, this behavior will continue to get worse. 

Because of this, the human hands will be begging for something else to touch; something with an other tactility than the smooth surfaces we constantly feel. We have the need to see and feel the differences between the materials, their imperfections.

This book was written on the occasion of Lidewij’s forecast and is about materials and tactility and what they will bring us in the future.
